A new musical comedy from Carolyn Drury and Cliff McArdle

This is an affectionate look at the National Health Service with special reference to Suningsby Surgery which, like the NHS in general, has its share of problems. Too many patients and not enough doctors for a start. The Practice Manager keeps trying to bridge the gap by employing Nurses with so-called special skills and a Pharmacist who keeps trying to cut down everyone’s pills. The patients aren’t happy even though the Receptionists have had special training in how to smile and be pleasant to people.

The Doctors are an interesting bunch and enjoy their work, most of the time. They are always busy and have learnt how to deal with the large assortment of characters they meet each day. The genuinely ill, the hypochondriacs, the pensioners and the babies, all human life is here. They have all done their share of waiting: waiting on the phone to speak to someone, waiting for an appointment, waiting to see the doctor and waiting to go on a waiting list. Now we all know where the word ‘patient’ comes from!
